25 universities with the worst teachers

American colleges and universities have the worst teachers?

According to the latest figures compiled by education reflection, many of the worst teachers teach in schools in the Midwest and East Coast. The Center for College Affordability and Productivity has compiled a list of schools with the best and worst teachers by slaughtering millions of rating the teacher RateMyProfessors.com. Teacher evaluations were one of the elements that the center used in the evaluation of 650 colleges and universities to the Forbes best American universities.

Millions of students have used RateMyProfessors to share their feelings about their teachers in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom using a five-point scale, students rate professors on three criteria: helpfulness, clarity and ease. An overall quality score is determined by the average rating helpfulness and clarity. You can see the four scores for each teacher on the site.

It is notable that some universities that have landed on the list of worst school teacher specializing in science, technology and engineering, which are academically challenging. Students could give teachers in these areas the low scores in the category of ease, but these assessments are not used in the overall quality score of a teacher. (You can see how all the schools as ranked by Forbes fared in the job category by clicking the link rankings components on the Center's web site.)

The school teachers with lower-rated? This dubious distinction goes to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, while the U.S. Coast Guard Academy third. The poor performance of schools is something of a surprise, as two of the other service academies - West Point and the Air Force Academy - rank in the top of the list of schools with the best teachers. Here is the complete list.
